Kyrgyz culture minister and Korean ambassador discuss joint holding of cultural events

Bishkek, Jan. 19, 2022. / Kabar /. Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan Azamat Zhamankulov received Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Kyrgyz Republic Lee Wonjae, the press service of the ministry reported.

During the conversation, the minister of culture noted that there have always been good relations between Kyrgyzstan and the Republic of Korea, and also expressed the opinion that Korean culture has become very popular among the Kyrgyz people.

The minister also shared information on the successful opening of a national Korean center based on the library, which actively provides Kyrgyzstanis with access to materials in Korean and Kyrgyz languages.

The sides discussed the issues of holding cultural events within the framework of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and the Republic of Korea, noting the need to conduct tours of national creative teams on a mutual basis.

Ambassador Lee Wonjae said that the tour of the national center Gugak, which is preparing a concert program for a performance in Bishkek, is already planned.

The ambassador also noted the awareness of the great interest of the Kyrgyz people in Korea, noting that the Embassy regularly supports the work of Korean centers based on educational and cultural institutions.

The participants also discussed issues of cooperation in the field of tourism, noting that in the years before the pandemic, a significant number of tourists from Korea were recorded visiting natural and cultural places in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the interest of Kyrgyz tourists in visiting Korea.

Following the talks, the sides agreed to work out the issues of holding various events this year, timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Korea.
