Bishkek, Oct. 11, 2022 / Kabar /. On October 10, 2022, the 136th session of the United Nations Committee on Human Rights has opened, during which the reports of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Japan, the Republic of Nicaragua, the Philippines and the Russian Federation on their implementation of the provisions of the International Covenant on Civil and Political rights will be considred.
The delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic, headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov, consists of representatives of the Supreme Court, the General Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Migration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Permanent Mission of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva.
The Kyrgyz Republic acceded to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and its Optional Protocol on October 7, 1994 and will submit its third periodic report to the Committee on October 11 and 12 of this year.
At the same time, on December 6, 2010, the Kyrgyz Republic acceded to the Second Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, aimed at abolishing the death penalty.
