Bishkek, May 29, 2024. /Kabar/. A governmental delegation led by head of the foreign policy department of the presidential administration of the Kyrgyz Republic, Muratbek Azymbakiev, is taking part in the Global Forum of Islamic Economics and Finance in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on May 28-29.
The forum was opened on May 28 by Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim, President of the Islamic Development Bank Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser and Senior Managing Director of the World Bank Axel von Trotsenburg.
In his speech at the first session of the ministerial dialogue on the topic “Navigating the global economy in post-normal times: applying values-based reforms,” Muratbek Azymbakiev noted the main achievements of Kyrgyzstan over the past three years: GDP growth, the beginning of the implementation of energy and transport and logistics projects, improvement of the socio-economic situation in the country, etc.
Answering the moderator’s questions on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, Muratbek Azymbakiev emphasized that the reforms being carried out in the country, based on an uncompromising fight against corruption, the use of new technologies, improving public administration, etc., have taken the country out of the list of poor states and are creating a favorable climate for attracting foreign investment.
During the event, the forum participants discussed a wide range of issues related to the principles of Islamic finance, the halal industry and their impact on the growth of the countries' economies.
In his speech, Muratbek Azymbakiev noted the important role of the international discussion platform of the forum in providing ample opportunities for the exchange of views by both representatives of countries and the expert community.
During the visit, a number of bilateral meetings are held with key ministries and departments of Malaysia to discuss the prospects for Kyrgyz-Malaysian cooperation.
