Kyrgyz delegation takes part in II International Forum of Maqom Art in Uzbekistan

The delegation of Kyrgyzstan led by Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Altynbek Maksutov took part in the solemn ceremony of the II International Forum of Maqom Art, which takes place in Uzbekistan under the auspices of UNESCO and ICESCO.

During the opening ceremony, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that maqom art, which is a symbol of Uzbek ancient history, rich culture and primordial values, with its deep philosophy, unique artistic techniques and creative traditions, occupies an important place in spiritual life and is valuable as a unique art form, praising universal human values ​​in the most sublime notes.

President of the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference, Simone Miculescu, and Director General of ICESCO, Salim Muhammad Al-Malik, delivered welcoming remarks.

The opening ceremony was also attended by Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktota Raimkulova, Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States Mehmet Sureya Er, Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Nurlan Seitimov, Chief Advisor to the President of Turkey Yalcin Topcu, Advisor to the President Kazakhstan Malik Otarbayev, Assistant to the President of Tajikistan on Social Development, Culture and Public Relations Abdullo Rakhmonzoda, Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan Adil Gabil oglu Karimli.

In total, about 400 guests from more than 80 countries in Asia, Europe, North and South America, and Africa take part in the festival.

The forum will last until June 30.

In addition, the festival will include an international conference and round tables on the theoretical and practical foundations of maqom art.
