Tashkent, Nov. 20, 2018. / Kabar. The Kyrgyz delegation will take part in the Asian Forum on Human Rights, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which will be held on Nov. 22-23 in Samarkand, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Tashkent reported.
The Kyrgyz delegation includes of: Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan Tokon Mamytov, deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh - Abdyvahap Nurbayev, Natalia Nikitenko, Kamila Salikhodzhaeva, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ermek Turgunaliev, director of the Agency for Social Technologies, gender expert Zulfiya Kochorbayeva, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic Kanybek Bokoev.
The forum is expected to be attended by the heads of international and regional organizations, the leadership of the United Nations, the OSCE, the EU, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, delegations of parliaments, foreign judicial authorities, heads of national human rights institutions, representatives of the expert community.
Recall that in Sept. 2017, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during a visit to the United States at a meeting with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Raad al-Hussein, took the initiative to hold for the first time the Asian Forum for Human Rights in Samarkand this year. At the same time, Mirziyoyev also proposed to open an office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in his country.
In May 2017, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights visited Uzbekistan for the first time and held talks with the President, as well as with a number of meetings with government leaders and representatives of civil society. Following the visit in June, the country's parliament adopted an action plan for cooperation with OHCHR, which includes more than 90 events.
