Opening the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development for the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Region, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Edil Baisalov drew the attention of the world community to the agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Canadian international mining company Centerra Gold Inc..
“Our largest gold deposit and national treasure has completely become the property of the Kyrgyz state. The concluded agreement was peaceful and mutually beneficial for all parties concerned. The Kyrgyz Republic reaffirms its commitment to protecting the rule of law and providing all international and national guarantees for international investment. Our country is open for business,” said Edil Baisalov.
The Regional Forum of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe is being held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baisalov.
The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) was established on March 28, 1947 by the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in order to develop economic activity and strengthen economic ties within the region. The UNECE is one of the five regional economic commissions of the United Nations and is headquartered in Geneva.
The working languages are: French, English and Russian. The organization includes 56 states, including the countries of Europe, the USA, Canada, the Republic of Turkey, the State of Israel, the countries of Central Asia. The Kyrgyz Republic became a full member of the Commission on July 30, 1993.
