Kyrgyz deputy FM meets with UNECE deputy executive secretary

Bishkek, March 11, 2022. / Kabar /. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Dinara Kemelova met with Deputy Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Dmitry Maryasin, as part of his visit to the Kyrgyz Republic on March 9-11, 2022.

The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan said that during the meeting the sides discussed topical issues of bilateral and regional cooperation and the role of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe in the development of the countries of Europe and Central Asia.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Dinara Kemelova emphasized the importance of interaction with the Commission for the implementation of projects in Kyrgyzstan in the field of energy security, hydropower and expanding public access to water, increasing the capacity of government agencies, training business representatives on increasing the export of domestic goods to the European Union countries. Separately, Dinara Kemelova noted the importance of developing cooperation on the protection of mountain ecosystems and informed about the recent international initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Deputy Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe Dmitry Maryasin confirmed the relevance of the raised issues and expressed the Commission's readiness to provide support in their implementation. He noted the importance of the active participation of the Kyrgyz Republic in the framework of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia, as well as the wide involvement of the Kyrgyz Republic in the main international transport corridors, in order to develop the export of domestic goods to world markets.

The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations. It was established in 1947 by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to develop economic activity and strengthen economic ties within the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe region and between that region and the rest of the world.
