Kyrgyz doctors perform another successful kidney transplant operation

Bishkek, Dec. 14, 2023. / Kabar/. Doctors from the National Center for Maternal and Child Health successfully performed another kidney transplant operation on a 40-year-old patient, the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The country’s Health Minister Alymkadyr Beishenaliev visited the patient and got acquainted with the patient’s condition.

As is known, the patient was on program hemodialysis for 7 years. His loss of kidney function was assessed as a consequence of glomerulonephritis. The recipient completed all necessary preoperative preparations. The patient's sister became the donor.

Since the beginning of the year, doctors from the National Center for Maternal and Child Health have performed 8 successful kidney transplants, the report said.

For reference: glomerulonephritis is a kidney disease of immunoinflammatory origin with a predominant involvement of the glomerular apparatus in the process. It often occurs after untreated acute tonsillitis, viral infections, pneumonia, and sometimes as a result of various immune drugs.
