Bishkek, May 11, 2022. / Kabar /. At the site of the 31st Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Marrakesh (Morocco), a meeting was held between Minister of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan Daniyar Amangeldiev with EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso and EBRD Vice President Alain Pilloux and a number of heads of EBRD regional offices.
During the meeting, the current portfolio of the bank and issues of the macroeconomic situation in connection with the impact of the conflict in Ukraine, issues of ensuring food security, as well as the implementation of projects in the energy sector were discussed.
Agreements were also reached on promoting joint projects in the field of e-commerce, railway infrastructure, irrigation, support for small and medium-sized businesses and green transformation.
In addition, Amangeldiev held bilateral meetings with Vice President of the European Investment Bank Thomas Estros, with the head of the delegation of Moldova, Minister of Economy Sergiu Gaibu, EBRD Director for Infrastructure in Central Asia and Mongolia Katerina Miroshnik, Director for Energy for Eurasia, the Middle East and Africa, the Group sustainable infrastructure of the EBRD Aida Sitdikova.
During the meeting with Vice President of the European Investment Bank Thomas Estros, issues of expanding the portfolio of joint projects and the possibility of opening a regional representative office of the bank in Central Asia in Bishkek were discussed.
The sides agreed to further enhance bilateral cooperation, develop and implement new joint projects.
Separate meetings are also planned with the Turkish delegation headed by Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati, the Hungarian delegation headed by Hungarian Finance Minister Mihaly Varga, and other heads of official delegations.
