Bishkek, Aug. 8, 2022. / Kabar /. The Kyrgyz Embassy in Pakistan denied reports that the head of al-Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was eliminated by a drone launched from the Gansi Air Base in Kyrgyzstan.
The Embassy said that a number of foreign media circulated reports that the head of Al-Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahiri, was eliminated by strikes from an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in Afghanistan, allegedly launched from the Gansi airbase of the US Armed Forces, located in Manas International Airport of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The Transit Center at Manas International Airport ceased operations in 2014. The official closing ceremony of the center took place on June 3, 2014. The bilateral agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United States on the activities of the Manas Transit Center ceased to be valid on July 11, 2014.
Currently, American or other foreign military personnel are not present on the territory of Manas International Airport and do not conduct any activities.
