Kyrgyz emergency minister, Russian ambassador discus strengthening cooperation

Bishkek, Jan.23, 2025. /Kabar/. Bishkek hosted a meeting between Minister of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan Boobek Azhikeyev met with Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Sergey Vakulov.

In his welcoming speech, Minister Azhikeyev expressed gratitude to the Russian side for the realization of humanitarian projects, the press service of the Kyrgyz Emergency Situations said.

In particular, he noted the gratuitous assistance of the Russian government, within the framework of which the Russian Emergency Ministry transferred 40 fire tanker trucks and Mi-8 MTV-1 helicopter to Kyrgyzstan in 2023. This equipment was an important support in modernizing fire and aviation services.

The meeting also discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of protection of population and territories from emergencies, the possibility of implementing joint projects, as well as training of military personnel of the Kyrgyz Emergency Ministry in educational institutions of the Russian Emergency Ministry on a free-of-charge basis.

Sergey Vakulov thanked the minister for the warm welcome and confirmed Russia's readiness for further close cooperation.

“At the end of the meeting, the parties noted the importance of strengthening Kyrgyz-Russian relations and expressed hope for the continuation of fruitful partnership”, the report said.
