Kyrgyz Emergency Ministry takes part in SCO Exercise on Urban Earthquake Search and Rescue in India

Bishkek, Nov.6, 2019. /Kabar/. During the period from Nov. 4-7, 2019 delegation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kyrgyzstan is taking part in the SCO Joint Exercise on Urban Earthquake Search and Rescue in New Delhi, India.

The delegation is participating within the framework of the 10th meeting of Heads of Government Departments of SCO countries dealing with the prevention and elimination of emergency situations.

Within the framework of the exercise, the host country's emergency management mechanisms for receiving, arriving, coordinating and using international assistance from the SCO member states - Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China and Pakistan - are being tested.

The command post exercise simulated practical actions, focused on strategic and tactical aspects of disaster response.

The exercise is conducted in accordance with the general methodology of the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), and 4 response phases have been completed: preparedness, mobilization, operation and demobilisation, in near real time.

The objectives of the exercise have been achieved, and the national and international response to the major earthquake scenario, which requires international assistance, has been improved.
