Kyrgyz Energy Ministry promises uninterrupted electricity supply in winter

Bishkek, Sept. 15, 2021 . / Kabar / . During the heating period the population will be uninterruptedly provided with electricity, Minister of Energy and Industry of Kyrgyzstan Doskul Bekmurzayev said Wednesday during a round table.

The event, organized on the initiative of public organizations, discussed issues relating to the current state and prospects of the energy sector.

Energy experts, public figures and civil activists attended the round table, the press service of the Energy Ministry reported.

Minister Bekmurzayev noted that every effort is being made to ensure a stable supply of electricity to the population in the autumn-winter period and to prevent emergency shutdowns.

"In winter, Kyrgyzstanis will be supplied with electricity uninterruptedly. Due to water shortages, we export electricity from Turkmenistan. Preparation for winter is ongoing. All power facilities have carried out repairs of equipment in order to prevent emergency shutdowns," said the minister.

In addition, he noted the energy sector should be considered from the economic point of view.

"We are also working on energy development projects. Work has also begun on the construction of small hydropower plants. A capsule was laid in Talas Oblast with the participation of the president for the construction of Bala-Saruu small hydropower plant," Bekmurzayev said.

During the round table, independent experts, public figures and experts in the field of energy support the decision to leave tariffs for the population at the same level and the construction of small HPPs.
