Bishkek, Dec.5, 2024. /Kabar/. In Kyrgyzstan, garlic production is growing annually from 69 thousand tons in 2019 and 81.6 thousand tons in 2023.
In 2024 the harvest reached more than 100 thousand tons. The bulk of garlic in Kyrgyzstan is produced in the private sector - in farms up to 1 hectare, the press service of the republic’s Agriculture Ministry reported.
However, there are several enterprises in Kyrgyzstan specializing in industrial garlic production.
Garlic is native to Central Asia and Kyrgyzstan has native varieties. Our high-mountain climate is well suited for growing garlic. Kyrgyz farmers can provide both the domestic market and also develop exports to other countries. Due to the high cost of garlic, this type of plant has great prospects.
