Bishkek, Oct. 26, 2020. /Kabar/. New The Road to Eden film by Bakyt Mukul and Dastan Zhapar uulu will participate in the competition program of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Culture said Monday.
The Tallinn Film Festival is in the elite category of A list together with Cannes, Berlin, Venice and other leading world film festivals. The festival will be held in the traditional format on Nov. 18-29 in Estonia.
The Road to Eden feature film is a joint production of the Kyrgyzfilm National Film Studio named after Tolomush Okeev and the Bilimkana Public Fund. The authors of the script and directors of the film are Bakyt Mukul and Dastan Zhapar uulu.
"We are very glad to be in the competition program of such a prestigious film festival as Black Nights. This year, due to the pandemic, as many as 5 major festivals refused to hold events. Therefore, there were a lot of films and, consequently, the competition for a place in the contest program of major festivals has increased significantly,” noted co-director of the film Dastan Zhapar uulu.
Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival is a unique event combining a feature film festival with the sub-festivals of animated films, student films and children/youth films. The festival aims to present Estonian audiences a comprehensive selection of world cinema in all its diversity with the emphasis on European films, providing a friendly atmosphere for interaction between the audience, Estonian filmmakers and their colleagues from abroad. Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival consists of the main programme, three sub-festivals, as well as film and co-production markets.
From 2014 Black Nights Film Festival is accredited by FIAPF to organise an international non-specialized competition of feature length films along with 15 festivals around the world.
