Kyrgyz films to be shown at international festival in Kazan

Bishkek, Aug. 24, 2018. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz films will be shown at the XIV International Kazan Festival of Muslim cinema, the Department of Cinematography of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The International Kazan Festival will take place on Sept. 4-10.

65 films from 28 countries will be shown within the festival.

Tynay Ibragimov’s film “Svet i Ten” (A light and a shadow) was selected for the contest in the category of short documentary films.

The films “Doroga” (A road) (director – Kalvira Akchalova) and “Zhyzn” ( A llife) (director – Cholponay Borubaeva) will be presented to viewers within a program entitled “Post-Soviet States”, while “Kinoman” (A cinema fan) (director – Askar Nurakun uulu) will be shown within the out-of-competition category “Film Tests or Youth Cinema”.

Moreover, guests can see the work of Kyrgyz director Ernest Abdyzhaparov “Sayakbay”, which will be shown out of competition. Abdyzhaparov himself will join the jury.

The festival’s program includes a retrospective of cinematic works based on the creations of prominent Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov.

The screening is devoted to the 90th anniversary from the birth of the writer.

The International Kazan Festival is one of the major film forums, which is held annually in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia.
