Kyrgyz FM, Japanese Ambassador discuss wide range of cooperation issues

Bishkek, Mar. 7, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov met Japanese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Yoshihiro Yamamura.

The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that during the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of issues related to cooperation. Aidarbekov expressed gratitude for the continued support and effective contribution of the Japanese side to the socio-economic development and strengthening of democracy in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The sides also exchanged views on issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation of mutual interest. A number of events planned for 2019 were also discussed.

Within the framework of the Grant Assistance for Grass Roots and Human Security Projects of the Government of Japan, ceremonies for signing of grant contracts totaling more than $ 600 thousand were held last month. These projects are aimed at strengthening the material base of medical, social, educational and other institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic. As part of these projects, 4 ambulances will also be handed over.

The Government of Japan provided assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic in the total amount of more than $ 10 million within the framework of the Grant Assistance for Grass Roots and Human Security Projects.
