Kyrgyz FM Kazakbaev addresses 48th session of OIC Council of Foreign Ministers

Bishkek, March 23, 2022 . / Kabar /. A delegation of Kyrgyzstan, led by Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev, took part in the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The OIC Council of Foreign Ministers started its work on Tuesday in Islamabad, Pakistan, under the theme “Building Partnerships for Unity, Justice and Development”, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said.

The session is chaired by Pakistanis Prime Minister Imran Khan and attended by foreign ministers of OIC member states, representatives of international organizations and observer countries.

The agenda of the 48th session of the OIC Ministerial Council is devoted to discussing traditional issues of the Islamic world, support for the Muslim community and its culture in different parts of the world, as well as current problems of modern society in combating international terrorism, extremism and Islamophobia, as well as security issues.

In his speech, Ruslan Kazakbaev emphasized the need for an even more active policy in the modern system of international relations in order to consolidate forces in resolving crises and promoting social, economic and humanitarian programs.

The foreign minister of Kyrgyzstan expressed concern about the emerging situation in some member states of the Organization and Ukraine. In this regard, he stressed the importance of coordinating joint efforts to prevent the escalation of tension and conflict resolution by political and diplomatic means.

Minister Kazakbaev is expected to hold bilateral meeting with his counterparts as part of the events.
