Bishkek, Sept. 25, 2021 . / Kabar /. A High-Level Dialogue on Energy took place on Friday on the margins of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.
The event was attended by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly Abdulla Shahid, UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner, as well as heads of state and government and heads of various ministries of UN member states.
Kyrgyzstan was represented by Minister of Foreign Affairs Ruslan Kazakbaev, who in his speech confirmed the importance of developing sustainable energy, including in the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 7, as well as the commitment of the Kyrgyz Republic to sustainable low-carbon development and building a "green" economy.
The foreign minister of Kyrgyzstan informed about the phased implementation of a number of projects in the country to build large and small hydropower plants and improving national legislation to create the necessary conditions for the introduction and use of renewable energy sources.
The interest of the Kyrgyz side in promoting projects of trans-regional infrastructure development, such as the CASA-1000 project on export of electricity from Central Asia to South Asia, and in the work on formation of a common energy market of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states was noted.
Ruslan Kazakbaev called on international partners for mutually beneficial cooperation in the water and energy sector, including on the principles of public-private partnership.
