Kyrgyz FM Kulubaev takes part in meeting of CIS Ministerial Council in Dushanbe

Bishkek, May 13, 2022. / Kabar /. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev took part in the regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS member states on May 13, 2022 in Dushanbe, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The foreign ministers of the CIS member states exchanged views on topical international and regional problems and the further development of cooperation within the Commonwealth.

In his speech, Kulubaev emphasized that the main and unshakable principle of the creation of the CIS was laid down in the formulation that the further development and strengthening of relations of friendship, good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation between our states meet the fundamental national interests of their peoples and serve the cause of peace and security.

In addition, the minister noted the need to coordinate efforts to prevent the deterioration of the general economic situation and take prompt measures, primarily to ensure food security in the face of restrictions and sanctions imposed on Russia.

He drew attention to the importance of joint work to diversify the economy, intensify investment activity and stimulate mutual trade, remove barriers to the movement of goods and services, and create equal conditions for the economic activity of economic entities of the Commonwealth countries.

Further, the Kyrgyz side noted that in the emerging geopolitical situation, it seems necessary to strengthen the political component of the Commonwealth, to unite and emphasize their political views on peaceful and friendly interaction in the organization in order to jointly confront new challenges and threats.

He emphasized that the Commonwealth today is an important negotiating platform. It must be admitted that the authority and relevance of this structure will be when we resolve by peaceful means the main, burning issues that exist between our states.

Also, the heads of foreign affairs agencies approved a number of documents that will be submitted for approval during the upcoming meetings of the Council of Heads of State and the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS this year.
