Kyrgyz FM meets Executive Senior Vice President of JICA in Japan

Bishkek, Oct. 30, 2018. /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Aidarbekov met with Executive Senior Vice President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Koshikawa on Tuesday within his working visit to Japan, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reported.

During the meeting, the sides discussed a wide range of issues related to the bilateral cooperation. Minister Aidarbekov expressed gratitude for the continued support and effective contribution of JICA to the socio-economic development and strengthening of democracy in the Kyrgyz Republic. He noted a number of promising areas of cooperation and made proposals for the implementation of specific projects in the directions mentioned.

JICA Executive Senior Vice President Koshikawa informed about the ongoing work to assist Kyrgyzstan in the field of infrastructure transport, agriculture and human resource development. He noted that the Japanese side is currently conducting an analysis of its activities in Kyrgyzstan, on the basis of which it is planned to include new areas of cooperation. Koshikawa informed that a delegation of representatives of medicine of the Kyrgyz Republic is in Japan at the present time, at the invitation of JICA. They plan to visit a number of medical institutions in Japan. As a result of their visit, a strategy is expected to be developed to improve the health care system of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In turn, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Aidarbekov noted that the Kyrgyz side attaches particular importance to cooperation in the field of medicine. This issue was raised by President of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbekov during his meeting with President of JICA Kitaoka in June 2018.

Moreover, the Minister held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan Yuki on Tuesday. During the meeting, issues of cooperation in the joint implementation of projects on quality infrastructure were raised.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to build up a dialogue on the entire spectrum of mutually beneficial partnership and outlined plans for the near future.
