Kyrgyz FM meets in Berlin with executive director of NABU

Bishkek, March 31, 2022 / Kabar /. As part of a visit to Germany, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev met in Berlin with Executive Director of the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU) Life Miller, the press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

NABU staff made a brief presentation on the activities of the Union, both at the international level and directly in Kyrgyzstan. Ruslan Kazakbaev noted that Kyrgyzstan pays special attention to the issues of nature protection, environmental protection, environmental conservation, emphasizing that a set of issues of energy transformation and the development of a green economy was discussed at the ongoing International Conference "Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue".

Ruslan Kazakbaev expressed his gratitude to NABU for its active long-term activities in Kyrgyzstan aimed at protecting nature, preserving the snow leopard and other species of wild animals, supporting biodiversity, protecting the climate and preserving glaciers.

The Kyrgyz minister also thanked NABU for the construction of the rehabilitation center for the snow leopard and other wild animals, as well as the eco-education center in Kemin, the official opening ceremony of which is scheduled for June 2022.

The rehabilitation center will be the only center of its kind for the conservation of animals, and, in turn, eco-education plays an important role in the conservation and respect for nature. Life Miller said that in Kyrgyzstan, classes are held on a regular basis among students of educational institutions of Kyrgyzstan on environmental issues.

Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev discussed plans for further cooperation with Life Miller. Life Miller noted the interest in concluding a new Memorandum of Cooperation between NABU and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, informed about the creation in 2022 of the second anti-poaching special group "BARS-2" with an office in Jalal-Abad.

NABU is the largest public environmental organization in Germany, with more than 800,000 members throughout the country and branches on different continents.
