Kyrgyz FM meets with secretary general of Economic Cooperation Organization

Bishkek, Sept. 24, 2024. / Kabar /. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbek Kulubaev and Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Asad M. Khan met in New York on September 21, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

The minister congratulated his interlocutor on his election as head of the ECO and wished him success in this responsible position.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the main areas of interaction between Kyrgyzstan and the ECO in the framework of its multilateral trade, economic, investment, financial, energy, tourism and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

Kulubaev noted the enormous potential of the ECO for the development of regional cooperation.

In particular, the Kyrgyz minister emphasized the special importance of developing transit and transport corridors, which will ensure the free movement of resources, goods and services in the ECO space, as well as connect the Central Asian countries with the seaports of the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea. In turn, A.M. Khan thanked for the meeting and the active participation of Kyrgyzstan in the regional events of the ECO. In this context, A.M. Khan expressed hope for high-level participation in the upcoming meeting of the ECO Council of Foreign Ministers in Tehran in 2024.
