As part of a working visit to Washington, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aidarbekov held a bilateral meeting with Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia Region Cyril Muller, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.
During the meeting the sides discussed the implementation of current World Bank projects both in Kyrgyzstan and the Central Asian region, as well as plans for cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank for the short and long term.
Minister Aidarbekov drew the attention of the World Bank representative to the positive macroeconomic indicators in the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic, the implementation of the WB projects in Kyrgyzstan in the field of environmental protection, improving road infrastructure, as well as the development of hydropower potential and regions of the country.
Muller, for his part, noted with satisfaction the significant contribution of Kyrgyzstan to the timely implementation of World Bank projects in the country. He confirmed his interest in developing and expanding cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in the future.
The sides also noted the achievement of Kyrgyzstan in the Doing Business 2020 ranking, according to which the Kyrgyz Republic was included in the top 20 reforming countries, where business procedures were facilitated.
