Bishkek, Aug. 29, 2023. /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev received credentials from the newly appointed Permanent Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in the Kyrgyz Republic Alexandra Solovieva.
Kulubaev noted the high level of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and UNDP in the humanitarian, socio-economic, financial and technical fields, in which the Program provides practical assistance to Kyrgyzstan. At the same time, he noted the need to assist the country in order to further implement the Sustainable Development Goals.
The parties stressed the importance of further joint implementation of the UN resolution “Sustainable Mountain Development” initiated by the Kyrgyz Republic, which declared 2023-2027 the “Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions”. The newly appointed UNDP Resident Representative positively noted the importance of such initiatives and expressed her readiness to work closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the relevant state bodies of Kyrgyzstan on the mountain agenda.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the upcoming participation of the delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic in the High-Level Week of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in September 2023 in New York.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, congratulating Solovyeva on her appointment, wished further success and a fruitful mission in Kyrgyzstan and expressed hope for the continuation of the course towards intensifying cooperation with UNDP and supporting the country's initiatives.
In turn, the UNDP Resident Representative, thanking for the warm welcome, noted the positive attitude towards expanding and strengthening the partnership between Kyrgyzstan and UNDP and assured that she would make all the necessary efforts for this.
