Kyrgyz FM receives newly appointed ambassador of Switzerland

Bishkek, Aug. 30, 2021. / Kabar /. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev received the newly appointed Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the Kyrgyz Republic Olivier Bangerter on the occasion of presenting copies of his credentials.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakbaev congratulated Bangerter on his appointment to the post and wished him further success in his responsible post.

The sides discussed issues on upcoming bilateral events, including preparations for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries in 2022. Separately, the New Strategy for Cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Switzerland for the period 2022-2025 was discussed. Kazakbaev proposed to include in the Strategy projects in the field of digitalization, ecology, regional development and the agricultural sector.

In addition, the sides noted with satisfaction the high level of Kyrgyz-Swiss relations, an exchange of views took place on the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation. They reaffirmed their mutual readiness to further build up cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Special thanks were expressed to the Swiss government for economic and technical assistance, as well as assistance in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the end of the meeting, Kazakbaev expressed the willingness of the Kyrgyz side to strengthen bilateral trusting relations and invited the ambassador to take part in the festive events timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Independence of the Kyrgyz Republic, which are scheduled for August 30 and 31, 2021.
