Kyrgyz FM takes part in CIS Ministerial Council meeting in Moscow

Bishkek, Apr. 7, 2019. / Kabar /. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aidarbekov took part in the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS member states in Moscow, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

During the meeting, an exchange of views on topical international and regional issues took place, and some aspects of improving the effectiveness of the work of the Commonwealth bodies were discussed.

The heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the CIS countries approved the Plan of multi-level inter-MFA consultations for 2019, reviewed documents aimed at strengthening cooperation in the military, law enforcement and cultural-humanitarian spheres. In particular, the parties approved draft documents affecting cooperation in the field of basic research, museum, combating crimes committed using information technologies, as well as the draft Statement of the Heads of CIS Member States on the 80th anniversary of the start of World War II.

At the initiative of the Kyrgyz side, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS member states adopted an Appeal on the need to preserve and properly care for war graves and military monuments of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

In this regard, Aidarbekov noted the importance of a joint call to ensure that in memory of the heroically dead servicemen taking the necessary measures and efforts to preserve and perpetuate the memory of the courage and heroism of the peoples of the CIS member states, as well as other countries in the fight against fascism.

The Kyrgyz foreign minister held a series of bilateral meetings in Moscow with colleagues from the CIS countries.

The next meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers is scheduled for October 10, 2019 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
