Bishkek, Feb. 17, 2019. / Kabar /. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov took part in the 53rd Munich Security Conference on Feb. 15-16, 2019, within the framework of his working visit to the Federal Land of Bavaria (Germany).
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that on the sidelines of the conference, Aidarbekov held bilateral meetings with the heads of delegations of a number of states.
The Munich Security Conference was established in 1962. The founder and leader of the Munich Conference until 1998 was Ewald-Heinrich von Kleist, a famous German military historian and journalist. The conference is held annually in February in the building of the ancient hotel “Bayerischer Hof” (Bavarian Court), Munich, the capital of the Federal Land of Bavaria (Germany).
Since 2008, the conference has been led by an experienced German politician and diplomat Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger. During the conference, current security issues are discussed. Every year, more than 600 representatives from various countries take part in the conference, including heads of states and governments, ministers of foreign affairs and defense, representatives of various organizations and institutions, as well as business circles.
This year the conference brought together over 35 heads of states and governments, 50 foreign ministers and 30 defense ministers.
