FM Aidarbekov urges donors to support Kyrgyzstan's efforts to provide rural residents with drinking water

Bishkek, Sept.26, 2019. /Kabar/. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2019 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov participated in the high-level event Transformative Water Actions to Accelerate Global Achievement of Climate Change-related Goals, held at the UN Headquarters in New York.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, speaking to the participants, the minister voiced the position of the Kyrgyz Republic on the importance of building a water use mechanism in Central Asia, which takes into account the interests of all states in the region and is aimed at the application of integrated water resources management.

He also noted the rational use of water resources contributes to the sustainable development of national economies and the preservation of the environment, including through the development of green energy (hydropower).

Minister Aidarbekov urged international organizations, financial institutions and donor countries to support the efforts of the Kyrgyz Republic in promoting projects to provide the rural population with clean drinking water within the framework of the Year of Regional Development and Digitalization, declared by President Sooronbay Jeenbekov.
