Kyrgyz FM, US under secretary for civilian security debate co-op

Bishkek, March 23, 2022. / Kabar /. Kyrgyzstan and the United States are preparing to sign a cooperation agreement. This issue was discussed in Islamabad during a meeting of Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev with US Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy and Human Rights Uzra Zeya.

During the meeting, the sides discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and US, including the organization of reciprocal visits at high and the highest levels, as well as preparations for the signing of an agreement on cooperation.

"They also discussed the prospects for further development and strengthening of Kyrgyz-US cooperation in view of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and touched upon issues of democratic development, human rights and activities of civil institutions," the press service of the Kyrgyz MFA said.

Regarding the situation in Ukraine, Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev noted that Kyrgyzstan has close friendly relations with both Russian and Ukrainian people

"The Kyrgyz Republic proceeds from the premise that any conflict must be resolved exclusively by political and diplomatic means at the negotiating table, including by creating new formats and mechanisms if the existing ones have lost effectiveness," the report said.

In turn, Zeya shared the opinion of the Kyrgyz side on the need to comply with the principles and norms of the UN Charter and solve the situation in Ukraine peacefully.
