Since the beginning of 2019, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov visited Uzbekistan, Norway and Germany, press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Ulanbek Dyikanbayev told reporters at the briefing in Bishkek.
He dwelt on the main points of the minister’s visit to these countries.
“The first visit in 2019 was to Uzbekistan, first to Tashkent, then to Samarkand. In Tashkent, Aidarbekov met with his counterpart Abdulaziz Kamilov. The sides discussed bilateral relations and upcoming high-level visits. In Samarkand, Aidarbekov took part in the multilateral India-Central Asia dialogue, in which the foreign ministers of five Central Asian countries and India took part. During the event, Chingiz Aidarbekov held a number of bilateral meetings,” Dyikanbayev explained.
Then the minister of foreign affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic visited Norway. A spokesman for the foreign ministry stressed that this was the first visit of this level to Norway.
“In Norway, the minister held more than 10 meetings, including with his counterpart, the mayor of Oslo, members of parliament. In addition, he visited the Radiation Protection Agency, where the issue of the elimination of uranium tailings in Central Asia was discussed. Norway allocated 1.6 million euro for these purposes in 2017-2018. We look forward to the arrival of this organization in Bishkek,” he added.
After Norway, Chingiz Aidarbekov visited Germany.
“In Germany, the foreign minister held more than 12 meetings, in particular with representatives of parliament, the foreign policy committee, also with advisers to the German chancellor for foreign relations and others,” he stressed.
Ulanbek Dyikanbaev noted that among the countries of the European Union, Germany is the main donor of Kyrgyzstan.
