Bishkek, March 3, 2022 . / Kabar /. As part of an official visit to the United Arab Emirates, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev met with Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, the press service of the Kyrgyz MFA said.
Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) was established by the Government of Abu Dhabi in 1971 to manage foreign aid programs. Since 2013, the Fund not only provides soft loans to finance economic and social development projects in Abu Dhabi and the UAE, but also invests in the development of the economies of foreign partner countries.
Appreciating the great contribution of the Fund in the rapid development of the UAE, as well as reforms in public administration, digitalization and introduction of advanced technologies, Ruslan Kazakbaev expressed the interest of the Kyrgyz side in the active and direct presence of the Fund in Kyrgyzstan.
Informing about the desire of the top leadership of the two brotherly states to raise the Kyrgyz-Emirati bilateral relations to a new level, the Kyrgyz minister discussed the current issues of enhancing bilateral cooperation of Kyrgyzstan with the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development to further expand trade, economic and investment cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the UAE.
In particular, among a set of issues, the attention of the Emirati side was drawn to such substantive projects of potential cooperation as the construction of affordable mortgage housing under the state programs of the Kyrgyz Republic for a total amount of USD 300-500 million and cooperation on the development of small hydropower and renewable energy sources, given their significant potential in the energy sector.
In this context, a package of investment projects was submitted to the Fund's management for consideration and the willingness of the Kyrgyz side to provide all possible assistance and create favorable conditions for potential investors from the UAE was expressed.
For his part, CE of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi stressed the interest in deepening Kyrgyz-Emirati cooperation through the Fund he heads.
In this context, the Emirati side expressed readiness to study the projects of the Kyrgyz side and to send, at its request, a delegation of UAE experts to the republic for a substantive discussion.
At the end of the meeting, Kazakbaev invited Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi to visit Kyrgyzstan with his delegation this year.
