Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev meets with FM of Burundi

Bishkek, Sept. 25, 2024. / Kabar /. On the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev met with Burundi Foreign Minister Albert Shingiro.

The foreign ministry reported that during the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations between the countries in various fields, including within the framework of international organizations. Attention was paid to the importance of interaction between small countries in areas of mutual interest.

Kulubaev informed his interlocutor that Kyrgyzstan had decided to put forward its candidacy for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for 2027-2028. In this regard, he expressed a request to support the candidacy of Kyrgyzstan in the elections in 2026.

In order to develop bilateral cooperation, the head of the country's foreign policy department also proposed organizing inter-MFA consultations, as well as mutual visits between the two countries, within the framework of which further areas of cooperation could be considered in detail.
