Bishkek, March 17, 2022. / Kabar /. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev received Ambassador of Ukraine to Kyrgyzstan Valery Zhovtenko at his request.
The press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported that the meeting discussed issues of Kyrgyz-Ukrainian relations and the current situation in Ukraine.
In particular, Kazakbaev noted that the world community through authoritative international organizations, in particular the UN Security Council, has failed to prevent an unprecedented crisis in the post-war history of Europe, which puts the world today on the brink of disaster.
He emphasized that the Kyrgyz Republic believes that any conflict must be resolved exclusively through political and diplomatic means at the negotiating table.
The minister stressed that the Kyrgyz Republic is a firm supporter of the observance of the universally recognized norms and principles of international law, including the territorial integrity of states and the peaceful resolution of conflicts, set forth in the UN Charter and other documents.
Kazakbaev welcomed the ongoing talks between Russian and Ukrainian representatives, any mediation efforts and initiatives by all countries to end the armed conflict and achieve peace, and reiterated the readiness of the Kyrgyz side to provide a platform and assistance if needed.
In addition, a concern was expressed that the entire world, and especially developing countries, would suffer from the effects of sanctions that could result in a long-term economic downturn.
The minister and the ambassador discussed the issues of safe evacuation of citizens of Kyrgyzstan and other countries from Ukraine, the creation of appropriate corridors for this purpose, as well as the possibility of providing humanitarian aid.
Ruslan Kazakbaev concluded by emphasizing that at this fateful time for all mankind Kyrgyzstan calls on everyone to unite for a common peace.
