Bishkek, Feb. 28, 2019. / On March 1-2, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov will visit Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, to attend the 46th session of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) under the slogan "Fifty years of Islamic cooperation: roadmap for prosperity and development ".
As part of participation in the event, Aidarbekov will deliver a speech at the plenary meeting of and hold bilateral meetings with the heads of a number of foreign delegations, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
OIC is an Islamic international organization uniting 56 Muslim countries with a population of about 1.5 billion people. The OIC was created to ensure Islamic solidarity of Muslim states in the political sphere and to speak with a united Islamic front in the United Nations.
The Kyrgyz Republic joined the OIC on December 1, 1992 at the 6th Extraordinary Meeting of the OIC Foreign Ministers in Jiddah, Saudi Arabia.
The agenda of the session will be devoted to the discussion of the issues of the Islamic world, support of the Muslim community and their culture in various points of the world, as well as topical issues of the modern world in the fight against international terrorism, extremism and stabilization, military-political situation in the Middle East, etc.
