Bishkek, June 12 / Kabar /. An international meeting will be held on Tuesday in the format of the high-level dialogue "Central Asia - UN" scheduled, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.
Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev will participate in it.
The forum will also be attended by UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Participants will exchange views on the implementation in Central Asia of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy and other relevant topics.
The meeting is the final event of the second phase of the project "Towards the implementation of the Joint Action Plan for the Implementation of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia", implemented by the Office of the Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF), the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Center (CTC) in conjunction with the Regional Center United Nations Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia (UNRCCA) in Ashgabat with the support of the European Commission (EU) and Norway.
The high-level dialogue will give political impetus to the states of Central Asia in adopting the necessary complementary and coordinated strategic approach to combating terrorism and addressing the root causes that contribute to terrorism.
It should be noted that the ministers of foreign affairs of Central Asian countries already held a 5 + 1 meeting in Ashgabat in 2015, attended by the then US Secretary of State John Kerry.
