Bishkek, Dec. 11, 2018. /Kabar/. A regular meeting of the Kyrgyz Government Council on Fiscal and Investment Policy was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziyev.
Abylgaziyev particularly noted that at the meeting of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov with the donor community in November of this year, certain comments were made regarding delaying the adoption of necessary decisions and unnecessary bureaucratic procedures, the press service of the Kyrgyz Government’s Office reported.
“When attracting concessional loans and grants, we need to clearly determine what effect we will get from this and from what funds we will repay obligations, since to some extent this affects the country's budget. We must ensure the most effective and rational use of borrowed loans,” Abylgaziyev told.
During the meeting of the Council, a number of investment projects were considered, aimed at the major reconstruction of Uch-Kurgan HPP, modernization of wastewater treatment facilities in Issyk-Kul Oblast, improvement of water resources' resilience to climate change and natural disasters, as well as increasing the operational safety of Kambarata HPP-2.
Heads of relevant ministries and departments of the country made reports on the relevant areas.
Following the discussions, it was decided to approve two of the four projects reviewed, the remaining ones were decided to be returned for revision, taking into account the comments and suggestions made.
In addition, in order to improve the efficiency of the use of attracted investment funds, the Ministry of Finance of the Kyrgyz Republic was instructed to make relevant amendments to the regulation on the Council of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic on fiscal and investment policies and relevant regulatory and legal acts.
