Kyrgyz government does not intend to sell Jetim-Too field

Bishkek, Jan. 8, 2021 / Kabar /. The government of Kyrgyzstan stated that they do not intend to sell the Jetim-Too field, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Maksat Mamytkanov told at a briefing.

He noted that there are now many accusations against the government that officials intend to sell a large metal deposit located in Naryn Oblast.

“We want to make sure that the wealth of our country belongs to the people. We will no longer sell our deposits cheaply at auctions,” he said.

Mamytkanov added that it is planned to create a state company, which will be an open joint stock company and the revenues from the field to be aimed at raising the country's economy and improving the lives of the people.

In turn, chairman of the State Committee for Industry, Energy and Subsoil Use of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jyrgalbek Sagynbaev, added that the statements that the field was sold does not correspond to reality.

“Jetim-Too is fully owned by the state. All previously signed documents have been canceled. There are all relevant court decisions. There are no disputes around the field,” he stated.
