Kyrgyz government proposes to develop project to improve air quality in capital

Bishkek, Dec. 15, 2020 / Kabar /. The government of Kyrgyzstan has developed an action plan to improve the environmental situation in the capital city, consisting of 40 points, Bolot Kadyrbekov, head of the Chui-Bishkek Department of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry of the Kyrgyz Republic told reporters at Kabar Agency.

He said that at present work on the implementation of the plan continues, but there are slight delays due to the current epidemiological situation in the republic.

“At the moment, to solve the problem, all relevant authorities need to unite and develop a project to improve air quality, which will be financed by the Kumtor gold mining company as part of cooperation on environmental protection,” he said.

It is specified that the amount of financing will be KGS 1 billion 400 million.

Currently, the daily level of air pollution in Bishkek exceeds the norm by 9.8 times.
