Bishkek, Mar.3, 2020. /Kabar/. Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev met on Tuesday with World Bank (WB) Regional Director for Central Asia Lilia Burunciuc, the Government’s press service said.
During the meeting, the prime minister and the WB regional director discussed issues, related to the implementation of the ongoing joint investment projects and the prospects for further cooperation.
The necessity of intensifying joint efforts for expanding partnership in priority spheres of national economy was stressed.
In particular, Abylgaziev and Burunciuc considered issues of further cooperation for the realization of the existing potential of the republic in the mining, energy and transport sectors, as well as in telecommunications.
Besides, the sides touched upon the improvement of conditions for the expansion of regional trade in Central Asia, including through the creation of a common system of veterinary and phytosanitary norms in the region.
The parties emphasized the importance of planned projects on education, regional development, modernization of tax and statistical systems for a total amount of $ 145 million, for which domestic procedures necessary for entry into force are currently underway.
PM Abylgaziev and WB Regional Director Burunciuc discussed the measures, taken by the Government to prevent infiltration into the country and prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, and the implementation of a set of preventive protection measures.
The prime minister said the competent bodies carry out extensive work to monitor the situation, and are in constant contact with the World Health Organization.
For her part, Lilia Burunciuc expressed the World Bank's willingness to assist the Government in all the measures taken.
