Kyrgyz Gov’t, UNICEF debate implementation of practical measures to protect children

Bishkek, Nov. 22, 2021 . / Kabar / . Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baisalov met with UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Afshan Khan, who has arrived in Kyrgyzstan for a working visit, the press service of the Cabinet said.

Baisalov noted Kyrgyzstan conducts an active social policy aimed at implementing practical measures to ensure social protection of children, protection and strengthening of maternal and child health, improving the education system, expanding access to quality health services, creating favorable conditions for persons with disabilities and expanding access of children to education services, protection from violence and discrimination.

He expressed gratitude to the international organization for its support and assistance in overcoming the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, and spoke about the measures taken on the epidemiological situation in the country and the vaccination campaign.

In turn, Afshan Khan positively evaluated the social obligations implemented by the state, in particular, the increase by 50% of monthly social benefits to certain categories of citizens, including children with disabilities.

On behalf of the country's leadership, the deputy chairman congratulated UNICEF on its 75th anniversary and assured that the Kyrgyz Republic, which has celebrated its 30th anniversary, will increase its role in the work of United Nations institutions as a responsible member of the international community.
