Bishkek, Jan. 17, 2022 . / Kabar / . The 4th wave of coronavirus infection began in Kyrgyzstan, the outbreak may be related to the pre-New Year's corporate parties, tois (massive festive event), winter tourism, Minister of Health of the country Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said on air of Birinchi Radio.
The minister noted that a mass gathering of people was observed at these events.
"In addition, a new strain of coronavirus omicron was laboratory-registered in the country; it may have been imported into the country even earlier. But once we detected it in the laboratory, we immediately reported it to the public. The new strain is spreading very quickly, but at the same time in most cases it passes in a mild form. There are fewer hospitalizations now compared to past waves of coronavirus. 70% of patients are now treated as outpatients," the minister informed.
Beishenaliev noted that the healthcare system in the country is prepared for a new outbreak and has a sufficient supply of drugs and PPE.
