Kyrgyz health minister receives UNDP permanent representative in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Feb. 2, 2024. /Kabar/. Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev met with UNDP Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic Alexandra Solovyova.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss key priorities for the development of cooperation in the health sector between UNDP and the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The minister congratulated Alexandra Solovyova on taking up the post of UNDP permanent representative in the Kyrgyz Republic and expressed hope for further strengthening of ties on the terms of mutually beneficial cooperation.

He also emphasized that one of the department’s priorities is the fight against HIV infection and tuberculosis.

“Kyrgyzstan adheres to a clear line in the implementation of international and national documents aimed at combating HIV infection and tuberculosis. In our new proposal for the period 2024-2026, we have included measures to gradually transition the role of the main recipient of the Global Fund grant to the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, which underscores our commitment to strengthening the national health system. By joint efforts, we will be able to move forward and provide our citizens with high-quality and affordable healthcare,” Beishenaliev said.

In turn, the UNDP permanent representative in the Kyrgyz Republic noted that UNDP is ready to continue cooperation in order to develop the healthcare system of the Kyrgyz Republic.
