Bishkek, July 23, 2021 . / Kabar / . Minister of Health and Social Development of Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev met with Hans Kluge, the WHO Regional Director for Europe.
The meeting took place in Athens, Greece within the framework of the Ministerial Summit on Actions Required to Address the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Mental Health and Service Delivery Systems in the WHO European Region.
The sides discussed a number of health issues, including cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the WHO Regional Office for Europe in the context of biennial agreements for the next 2022-2023 period, as well as other relevant issues of cooperation during the pandemic, the press service of the Kyrgyz Health Ministry said.
The World Health Organization is one of the main partners supporting the health sector in Kyrgyzstan.
The WHO provides assistance and long-term support to Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Health and Social Development in the design and implementation of health system development programs.
WHO rendered technical assistance in developing and approving by the Kyrgyz Government the Program on Public Health and Health System Development for 2019-2030.
The WHO Country Office in Bishkek promotes cooperation and continuous technical support in various areas. The current framework for cooperation between WHO and the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic is a two-year work plan.
In 2020, the signing of a biennial agreement on cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and WHO for 2020-2021 is also an important indicator of successful bilateral cooperation in the framework of health policy development.
