Bishkek, July 30, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Health held a tender for purchase of 111,000 flu vaccines, Head of the Health Ministry’s Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance Dinara Otorbayeva told during a briefing.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic and expecting the second wave in Kyrgyzstan, an application to purchase 700,000 more vaccines has been submitted for consideration.
Otorbayeva said vaccination cannot cover the entire population, so private medical centers are allowed to carry out vaccination too. The state plans to cover pregnant women, physicians, cardiovascular patients, frequently ill children and people over 65.
"There are over 700,000 people at risk group. These are just the people I listed. In addition, children who attend schools, teachers and those who work in teams and serve the population are eligible for vaccinations," the department head said.
Also, Dinara Otorbayeva said the flu and SARS epidemic starts in late October and ends in February, with peaks in late December and January.
