Kyrgyz Health Ministry ready for omicron variant

Bishkek, Dec. 24, 2021 . / Kabar / . The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan is ready for emergence of omicron strain of coronavirus, Deputy Ministry of Health of the republic Ulug-Bek Bekturganov said during a briefing in Bishkek on Friday.

He added that airports, railway stations have strengthened all measures to check all visitors.

"We take the temperature, we check PCR tests. If 72 hours have elapsed, we cancel the result, we also check the availability of vaccines," the representative of the Health Ministry noted.

Bekturganov said that the omicron strain has the same symptoms as the Delta - fever, malaise, and so on. Hospitals and laboratories are on full alert in case the population gets sick.

The deputy health minister noted that 10 more virological laboratories with new technology will open in the country, where they will do screening and research with the new strain.
