Bishkek, April 4, 2022 . / Kabar /. UNICEF has transferred personal protective equipment (PPE) worth over KGS 22 million to the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan as part of support for the response to COVID-19.
“Batch of individual protection means is intended for medical workers participating in treatment of COVID-19 and includes 7 thousand protective suits, 375 thousand surgical masks, 75 thousand respiratory masks, 4 thousand protective visors, 7 thousand gowns, 225 thousand medical gloves and 4 thousand protective glasses,” the press service of the Kyrgyz Health Ministry said.
During the transfer PPE, Head of the Public Health Department of the health Ministry Ainura Akmatova said that like in all other countries in the world, COVID-19 caused massive crisis in health care in Kyrgyzstan.
"Today we received personal protective equipment, which is necessary for our health workers to withstand the pandemic of coronavirus infection. I express my gratitude to UNICEF Kyrgyzstan for its assistance in combating the COVID-19 pandemic and improving public health in the republic," she said.
UNICEF Representative in Kyrgyzstan Christine Jaulmes noted that the COVID-19 pandemic is not over, and new waves are possible.
"In this regard, UNICEF continues to work tirelessly to provide essential supplies at the global level to respond to COVID-19. This includes providing personal protective equipment, vaccines, syringes, immunization equipment and medicines. In close cooperation with the Kyrgyz government, we provide these personal protective equipment to hospitals so that everyone is protected," she explained.
