Kyrgyz health workers being prepared for possible new wave of COVID-19

Bishkek, March 30, 2021 . / Kabar / . As part of preparation for a possible new wave of COVID-19 coronavirus infection, the main external specialists of Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Health are conducting repeated training of multidisciplinary teams (MDT) of doctors and nurses.

According to the press service of the Health Ministry, training took place on March 22-27 in the city of Osh, Osh, Jalal-Abad and Batken Oblasts.

The MDT include leading specialists in infectious diseases, pulmonologists, intensive care specialists, cardiologists, pediatricians, obstetricians, gynecologists, general practitioners, family doctors, neurologists, endocrinologists, and representatives of other medical fields.

The main attention was paid to the issues of treatment through councils, practical skills on respiratory support of severe and extremely severe patients using different modes of oxygen therapy, high-flow oxygen therapy, noninvasive lung ventilation (CPR and HRV therapy), as well as artificial ventilation, because the above mentioned technologies of support therapy will increase the effectiveness of treatment and save lives of severe patients.

"MDT of doctors and nurses are ready for a new possible wave of coronavirus infection and other challenges, for effective protection of public health. A network of MDT has been established in all regions of the republic, and this approach has prospects for responding and organizing care for other calls, including providing effective care for all severe categories of patients," notes Professor Talant Sooronbayev.

Training will continue in Naryn, Issyk-Kul, Talas, and Chui Oblasts and Bishkek and will be completed by Apr. 10.
