Bishkek, Nov. 26, 2020. /Kabar/. At present, healthcare organizations and institutions have sufficient stocks of medicines for 1-3 months, Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Elvira Surabaldiyeva told during an online briefing.
According to her, the Medical Health Insurance Fund of the republic has purchased medicines for KGS 235 million.
"Medicines were also purchased under the World Bank project. All medicines were distributed by regions according to applications. Our country depends on imports. Therefore, I met with representatives of private pharmaceutical companies and got acquainted with the stocks at the warehouse of the State Material Reserve Fund. It will purchase more drugs for KGS 250 million. It should be noted that COVID treatment protocols are the same all over the world. Therefore, some drugs are not enough," said the deputy PM.
She noted there is a shortage of 14 items, but their stock has been replenished with medicines that replace them (generics).
"By the decision of the Republican Headquarters, an interdepartmental working group was established to monitor prices for medicines in pharmacies. As mentioned above, 98% of coronavirus drugs are imported from different countries, so there is a difference in prices," the official explained.
