Kyrgyz, Kazakh FMs discuss wide range of bilateral cooperation

Bishkek, Jan.11, 2025. /Kabar/. At the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev paid an official visit to Kazakhstan on Jan. 10-11.

The foreign ministers of the two countries held narrow and extended format meetings, where they discussed a wide range of bilateral topical issues, including key areas of further cooperation in political, trade and economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian and other promising areas.

Kulubaev and Nurtleu, noting with satisfaction the results of interaction between the parties in 2024, stated the importance of further building up Kyrgyz-Kazakh relations that meet the interests of the peoples of the two countries.

In this context, they reviewed the implementation of the agreements reached by leaders of the two countries, as well as the organization of bilateral visits and meetings at high and the highest levels planned for the current year. The parties emphasized the importance of their qualitative preparation.

The Kazakh foreign minister analyzed the state of trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries and expressed readiness to expand cooperation on a mutually beneficial basis in the fields of energy, transport, agriculture, tourism and education.

During the conversation, Kulubaev touched upon the development and modernization of border checkpoints, building up trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian ties, and the stay of Kyrgyz citizens in Kazakhstan.

He noted the importance of implementing such projects as the construction of an industrial trade and logistics complex on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border, a ferroalloy plant in Tash-Kumyr, solar power plants in Kyrgyzstan, an Issuk-Kul -Almaty alternative highway, a modern trade and logistics warehouse in Almaty region for storing fruits and vegetables, which will contribute to increasing bilateral trade turnover and expanding investment cooperation.

The foreign ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan also considered issues of cooperation within the framework of international and regional organizations.
